What does Find the dream mean?

That’s a hard thing to define for many don’t you think?

How many people do you know, maybe yourself included, who if asked what their dream is, wouldn’t be able to define it? Honestly, most!

As my daughter said, while reading over my shoulder as I typed, “Find the dream is the name of our farm, a place for anyone to find what they need to find the right dream for them” …. out of the mouths of babes huh?!

It isn’t just about us though, a dream is an idea, a thought, that begins a vision of a goal for which a plan is laid …. and when things get rough you go to that dream and remind yourself why you are working so hard, uphill, against the wind and sometimes even against what may feel like the entire flow of “normal life”. Dreams my friend are what get us through the rough times to get us where we want to be, or at least in the direction of it.

For my family, “Find the Dream” started in a church service, I was praying to God for a solid, more then just “better life for my family” (which while great, was too undefined for me to really work toward effectively) GOAL to work toward in my business of helping people save money in life …. I asked God to lay a clear burden on me that was undeniable, consuming and did I mention CLEAR. He answered right away, like I was wrapped in my own private room, I didn’t hear the sermon any more, I saw a vision of a homestead style farm, it was quite large and just as I began to think, there’s no way I could do this, I was directed to several men working a fence line, a couple others tending animals …. and there was a cluster of tiny houses to the edge of the farm. These men were veterans, those homes were where they live, learning to farm, trying different ideas for the better of all of us, in preparation for each to begin their own “Dream” farm/homestead. I was nearly in tears as I thought of how many veterans struggle with dealing with “normal” life that want to be able to be part of society but just cant do it on societies terms. How many have been proven to improve with being able to garden, care for animals, etc and yet how many don’t have that option due to not having a place or way to start, don’t feel confident in starting and needing to learn it all from scratch, not knowing how or where to make connections to make this lifestyle sustainable or any number of other reasons. In those moments, I KNEW … THIS was my dream, to help as many as possible while also being able to do what I love!

This has been my all consuming dream for about 2 1/2 years now!

Of course to do so has, is and will take many steps and already has been many loops, slips, backtracking, re-planning, rescheduling goals and more! This blog is to share this journey with everyone and hopefully inspire others to dream dreams, set goals, move forward and not give up!

I’ll also share many tips, as well as examples and likely fails (reality lol) at simpler living, frugal living without going without, crafts, recipes, building ideas and projects.
