Sales cycles: July 7/7 week

Now that I can handle looking at pictures of food in sale flyers … I’m back to this series for you!

This week is a pretty dull week for the most part unfortunately especially in the grocery category.

Depending on your location keep an eye on things like grapes, peaches and strawberries. Some areas they are getting to really good prices, not so much here in new England yet but they are reasonable here.

Cherries are also hovering right around their lowest for the season price, depending on store. I usually won’t buy them if over $2. Beside binging on cherries what can you do with a big bunch of cherries?

Like most fruits and berries you can dehydrate cherries, just split them in half, remove the put and place them in a dehydrator or in your oven at the lowest possible temperature for a couple hours then turn it off and let sit in the heat, depending how big and close they are you may need to turn it on a couple times. Leaving the oven light on helps too. Personally I prefer a dehydrator DO NOT just crank it on high and forget about them though! They taste burnt that way 🙁 if you can set temp put it at a medium and check after about 4-6 hrs depending how big they are and current humidity levels.

You can also can cherries, as is(minus pits) or more enjoyably as a ready made pie filling or jelly/jam! You could of course just make pies too for immediate enjoyment or to then freeze for easy desserts for holidays 🙂

I love having lots of dehydrated cherries for snacking, putting in granola, sweetbreads, chopping up a bit and adding to crockpot or instant pot meat dishes for a little something extra and surprising!

Kellogs cereals are “on sale” all over the place mostly not great prices BUT if you have a store that doubles coupons and have a sale …. there are a variety of printable coupons for $.50 to $.75 off 1 of various flavors so you may be able to create some good deals! Try the kellogg’s site, coupons.com for starters!

This week is not really a great week for meat in general as most stores did great deals on meats last week for the 4th of July. Infact a lot of meat is just plain high this week!

In household products, the Proctor and Gambel coupons came out this weekend with several high value coupons as well as many stores are doing sales on them. Pharmacy’s in particular like Rite aid, Walgreens and CVS.

Rite aid is running a promotion buy $30 of marked P&G products get $10 back in store money which can be used toward other products. For example, Charmin and Bounty are both Buy 1 get 1 free at $13.99ea Tide laundry detergent(a smaller bottle) is $5.99

Buy 2 Charmin @ $13.99

Buy 2 Bounty @ $13.99

Buy 1 tide @ $5.99

Total = 33.97

Now use $3 off 1 tide coupon from the coupon booklet in this weeks newspaper.

Use $1 off Bounty

Use $1 off Charmin

Pay $28.87 and get back $10 toward future purchases! You can do the $30 deal 2 times and the extra $3.97 that was over the 30 in that total is already applied toward the next 30. You can use the $10 starting the next day.

You could also do

Buy 3 pantene @ 3 for $12 = $12
Buy 2 Tampax or Always @ 2 for $14

Buy 1 Tide @ 5.99

Total $31.99

Use $5 off 3 pantene

Use $3 off 2 Tampax or $3 off 2 Always

Use $3 off 1 Tide

Pay $21.99(plus tax) Get back $10

If you did this second deal first, the next day(or another day this week) went back and did the first deal, use the $10 to pay part of the 2nd total …. you will have 65.96 in products for only 40.86 out of pocket AND you’ll have $10 to go for other items you need or save to pay for things next week that will again give money back!

Walgreens and CVS run similar deals!

Target also has a buy 3 get a $10 gift card deal on most P&G cleaning products! Combining Tide and Gain products for example using the $2 and $3 coupons you’re bound to be getting a pretty good deal!

Target also is offering $30 gift card if you buy $100 worth of baby toiletries, diapers etc. I’m not sure of everything included but I know there are Johnson & Johnson, Aveeno baby, huggies,Pampers, pull ups coupons available via newspaper inserts as well as online printables. So there has to be some great deals able to be gotten here too! If you saved even only $10 but also got back $30 that alone would be a pretty great deal!

So the things to note and remember in this phase of the sale cycle …. right after the 4th, food sales are slow but fruit is becoming good! The first week of the month generally offers the best deals on Proctor and Gambel products with store money or gift cards back to help reduce your out if pocket for other needs 🙂

What are the best deals you are seeing this week?

Did you find anything good to stock up on?
