Is anyone else binge watching YouTube to learn skills you don’t have or want to improve or for inspiration to do things while we are all stuck at home? I mean sure, Netflix, Hulu, Disney + those are all fine and good and let you relax and all but personally I prefer gaining information if I’m staring at the screen! I’ll share some of my favorites in the coming weeks 😄
I was inspired while watching a series by one of my favorite YouTube families. You can find them by searching Justin Rhodes or just click the link 😉 . They are building their homestead, using permaculture practices. Justin, his wife “the beautiful one” and their children are so open and transparent with all the ups and downs of everything! From dancing around when a new thing worked as hoped to sadness over the loss of an animal or all the random kid comments that come out! I hope one day to meet them in person 😁 I highly encourage you checking out their channel from some great binging!
Anyway, a couple years ago, when I discovered the channel, they were doing a 100 day food challenge where they just shared daily what they did in living, moving toward food self sustainability! I LOVED this series! SOOOO I thought it would be fun to do something similar here 🙂 Maybe some of it will help inspire someone else! I highly recommend at minimum watching their 100 day series at least though!

Since I’ve just started getting things done, I figure following through 6 months or 180 days to go through most of harvest would be fun! It will help keep me accountable too … so if I go quiet, reach out and ask for an update 😁
The first week of April were some small but exciting starts.
1. Fermented carrots

2. Propogating Elderberry from cuttings

3. Got 9 grape vines
4. Propogating Weeping Willow from cuttings
5. Planted cherry tomatoes, peas and lettuce

6. Ordered seeds and plants
7. Got greenhouses.
I’m really chomping to get started on so much more stuff, much of which its simply too early for here in Maine! My dad and Joe have both had to gently remind me to be patient 🤣 we still need to be prepared for snow here for a few more weeks 🤦♀️
I hope you will enjoy following our journey this spring and summer. Maybe you can leave a comment with what you are working on!
