180 Days: Day 17

If you missed my initial explanation of what this 180 days is all about … you can check it out here at 180 days Forest to food! Follow along with all our ups downs and all around 😜

The last 2 days I have spent primarily comforting and snuggling a grumpy Aurora, she is teething and I think hitting a growth spurt. That’s been rough and my brain has been going crazy with things I planned to do that day … oh well, these days will pass soon and she will be further grown. Seeds and plants can wait a couple days. 😁

I did manage to accomplish potting up the Elderberry trees and weeping willow while Aurora slept in the carrier at least yesterday!

Today I put the trees in the greenhouse for part of the day and brought them in at night. I felt it would be too much for them going from warm house normally to freezing night temperatures at this point.

While I was busy with the baby some serious work got done outside! All the trees knocked down from the storm was cut up, piled up and brush cleaned up! Woohoo!

Then more trees for the garden area were cut down and cut up. I haven’t measured yet but I estimate that the area is now about 100×40.

Joe bought a new Husqvarna 450, which he can’t stop raving about. If you are in the market for a new chainsaw that is lightweight but strong and not a bank breaker (great investment for that stimulous check 😉) check this one out! He has been having lots of fun cutting up all this wood 🤣

There is one thing I have learned over the years, as much as I love to save a buck … and sometimes the price tag can seem like a savings with a lower quality item … when it comes to tools or highly used items like sneakers, the quality item with slightly higher price tag, that lasts 3 times longer, is typically the way to go! I say this to tell you, if you are reading and thinking it is time to try gardening or homesteading … weigh out the work you’ll expect something to do and make the investment on thing that A. you will use a lot and/or B. things you can resell if you decide this isn’t for you! So do yourself a favor, be smarter than I was starting out, and make a few investments, not everything, but a few each year! I’ll post links to some from time to time 😉

Summer and Avalon did some bike riding and Makayla worked on some paintings.

I noticed there’s a lot more plants coming up in front of the house … yay! I cant wait to see what all comes up 😁 I need to finish cleaning out the leaves tomorrow!

A lot of today was goofing off and relaxing on the kids part while I worked on meal planning and making a shopping list.

Speaking of shopping list, have you tried grocery pick up yet?! If not you really should … beyond the obvious hassles of shopping currently… pick up is SUCH a saver! Time saver obviously since you don’t have to walk through the store but also it is a great money saver too! When you have a shopping list planned and are going through picking online you stick to your list WAY better and dont get distracted by all the fluff stuff 😉

If you haven’t tried grocery pick up yet, sign up through my link and we will both save some money! You’ll get $10 off your order of $50 or more and so will I!
